  • Submitted by: David Torrance, Kirkcaldy, Scottish National Party
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 15 October 2026
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S7M-01631

That the Parliament commends Kirkcaldy mother of four, Anna Kocaoglu, who is set to embark on a voluntary humanitarian mission to accompany 88 orphaned and displaced children from Gaza and Syria on a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia; understands that the initiative, known as Umrah 4 Orphans, is organised by the World Care Foundation and will see the largest number of children participate in the programme to date; notes that Anna, who volunteers with the Fife-based community interest company, Yasiman Enterprise, will travel to Jordan on 19 October 2026 to join volunteers from across Europe in supporting the children on their journey; understands that many of the children have lost family members as a result of conflict and that the pilgrimage will provide a unique opportunity for spiritual reflection, comfort and the creation of lasting memories; further understands that Anna will assist in distributing emergency food supplies, financial support to widows and vulnerable families, medical aid and essential items for children; acknowledges the financial support provided by Yasiman Enterprise, alongside Anna's own contribution, in making her participation possible; praises the compassion and dedication of everyone involved in providing hope and support to children affected by conflict, and wishes Anna, her fellow volunteers and all the children a safe, memorable and rewarding journey.
