That the Parliament recognises that 10 October 2026 is World Mental Health Day; acknowledges that the day highlights the impact that living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) has on mental health as evidenced through Kidney Care UK’s Left to get on with it report; recognises that over 600,000 people in Scotland have CKD; believes that appropriate mental health and social (psychosocial) support helps people with CKD live longer in much better health; considers that, currently, and despite the prevalence of mental health and social challenges for people with CKD and the rising number of CKD cases in Scotland, adequate psychosocial support and resources for people with CKD are lacking across the healthcare system, and commends what it considers to be the important work of charities such as Kidney Care UK that provide social, emotional and financial support to patients in need and advocate for greater psychosocial support for people with kidney disease.
