That the Parliament congratulates Kirkcaldy Orchestral Society (KOS) on being invited by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) to perform at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall ahead of the RSNO’s 2026-27 season opening concert; understands that the invitation follows the success of both orchestras at the 2026 Royal Philharmonic Society Awards in London, where KOS won the voter-decided Inspiration Award, recognising the work of amateur music-making groups across the UK, while the RSNO received the Ensemble Award for the outstanding quality and scope of its performances and work; notes that KOS members will perform for concert goers as they arrive at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, with a programme featuring works from the orchestra’s repertoire, including Vaughan Williams’ Prelude to the 49th Parallel, original compositions by KOS Resident Composer John Gourlay and excerpts from John Williams’ soundtrack to Star Wars; considers the invitation from one of Scotland’s leading professional orchestras to be a significant honour and further recognition of the talent, dedication and achievements of KOS and its members; congratulates the orchestra's musical director and conductor, Graeme Wilson, who is marking 50 years at its helm during the 2026-27 season; recognises what it sees as the important contribution that KOS makes to the cultural life of Kirkcaldy and the wider community, providing opportunities for amateur musicians to perform and share orchestral music with audiences; commends everyone involved with KOS on what it considers to have been an outstanding year for the orchestra, and wishes its members every success for their performance at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and for their forthcoming 2026-27 season, On Tour with KOS.
