Two Orcadians Shortlisted for BBC Scotland Make a Difference Awards 2026

That the Parliament congratulates Gregor Corse and Donna Cuthbertson, both from Orkney, on being shortlisted for the BBC Scotland Make a Difference Awards 2026, which were held in Glasgow on 14 September 2026; understands that four-year-old Gregor was named a finalist in the Young Hero Award category for his fundraising efforts earlier this year, which saw him raise over £70,000 for local charity, Inclusive Orkney; notes that Gregor has since held a second fundraiser for two other local organisations, mental health charity, Soma's Light, and cancer support charity, CLAN, raising nearly £10,000 to date; understands that Donna was nominated in The Active Award category for her efforts to tackle isolation and improve mental well-being within the community through her Orkney Dance and Fitness sessions, which are held both online and in person across Orkney; recognises that through her work with Orkney Dance and Fitness, Donna has supported countless older people to build strength, confidence and community, particularly in Orkney's more rural isles; considers that their nominations are a well-deserved recognition of the positive impact that both Gregor and Donna have made within their community; thanks them both for representing Orkney so well on a national stage; congratulates all of the nominees and winners of the BBC Scotland Make a Difference Awards, and wishes them all the very best for the future.
