That the Parliament congratulates all those involved with The Peedie Retreat on a successful ground-breaking ceremony held at Inganess Beach on 24 August 2026; understands that The Peedie Retreat is an Orkney-based charity working to build an accessible and bespoke sea-side accommodation for individuals in Orkney living with cancer, multiple sclerosis (MS), or motor-neurone disease (MND) and their families; further understands that the recent event saw the charity's supporters and local partners come together to break ground on the future site of the retreat, and featured a convoy of fundraising vehicles, tractors and motorcycles as well as live music by The Inganess Band; believes that this marks a significant milestone for The Peedie Retreat and its supporters after four years of fundraising and planning; gives thanks to all those in attendance at the event for helping to celebrate such an important moment for the Orkney community, including television presenter and journalist, Lorraine Kelly, who operated the digger controls to carry out the first official dig; commends the founders of The Peedie Retreat, Anna and Reuben Johnston, for their efforts in taking forward this project for those in Orkney who have been impacted by cancer, MS and MND, and wishes them all the best as they undertake this next phase of development on the project.
