That the Parliament celebrates the 30th anniversary of Elgin’s Biblical Garden; recognises that the garden, which opened in June 1996, was the first of its kind in Scotland and has become a much-loved community asset and space for reflection, education and horticultural interest; notes that the garden houses a collection representing the approximately 110 to 125 trees, shrubs, flowers, herbs and crops mentioned in the Old and New Testaments, and forms an important part of Elgin’s historic and cultural landscape; understands that a free public picnic to celebrate the milestone anniversary, featuring live music, games and a ceremonial tree planting, will be held on 12 September 2026; celebrates the contribution made over three decades by volunteers, supporters and the wider Moray community in maintaining and promoting the garden as a place of significance for local residents and visitors, as well as for horticultural education; commends the Friends of the Biblical Garden for their fundraising efforts to secure the future of this highly-valued local asset, and wishes everyone involved in the Biblical Garden continued success as they celebrate 30 years of providing a welcoming green space for the people of Elgin and beyond.
