That the Parliament warmly congratulates Alan Winchester on what it sees as his exceptional contribution to Scotch Whisky, including his role in supporting The Cabrach Trust and The Cabrach Distillery CIC; recognises that, over a distinguished career spanning more than 50 years, Alan has established himself as one of Scotland’s most respected master distillers and leading experts on Scotch whisky and its heritage; appreciates that Alan, who began his career with a summer job as a distillery guide in 1975, has now been involved with more than 21 distilleries, was named Master Distiller of the Year in the Scottish regional round of the Icons of Whisky Awards in 2017, and remains a Master of the Quaich and Fellow of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling; notes Alan’s longstanding support for The Cabrach Trust and his instrumental role in helping to revive whisky making in The Cabrach after a 170-year absence through the establishment of The Cabrach Distillery, a community-owned Single Malt Scotch Whisky distillery and social enterprise at Inverharroch Farm, in the Cabrach region of Speyside; understands that a celebratory event will be hosted by The Cabrach Trust at The Acorn, Lower Cabrach, on 17 September 2026, to mark Alan’s remarkable contribution to Scotch Whisky, his longstanding friendship with The Cabrach, and the exciting future of The Cabrach Distillery, and wishes Alan and everyone in The Cabrach every success.
