  • Motion reference: S7M-00846

That the Parliament congratulates Moray Girls Football Club on being awarded £1,000 through ScottishPower’s annual grassroots funding competition for women’s and girls’ football across the Highlands and Islands; understands that the funding will enable Moray Girls FC to purchase additional equipment to support training sessions; celebrates the club’s successful season, during which both its U14 and U16 squads competed in the ScottishPower Youth Challenge Cup; recognises the vital role that investment in grassroots women’s and girls’ sport plays in encouraging participation, developing young talent and creating opportunities to enjoy football; notes that the funding competition forms part of ScottishPower’s wider support for the Highlands and Islands League, following its partnership with Scottish Women’s Football as the league’s first ever title sponsor; further notes that ScottishPower’s sponsorship of Scottish Women’s football has recently been renewed for a further three years, enabling the partnership and funding to continue into the future, and wishes Moray Girls FC and all the clubs benefiting from the programme continued success in the seasons ahead.
