Ensuring Scotland's Taxpayers' Money Supports Scotland's Public Services

That the Parliament notes with concern the Scottish Government's announcement that it is providing a further £500,000 of taxpayers' money for humanitarian assistance in the Palestinian Territories, bringing its publicly announced commitments for humanitarian aid in the area to approximately £2.25 million; believes that, at a time when Scotland's NHS, local authorities, transport network and other vital public services face what it considers to be significant financial pressures, the Scottish Government's priority should be to invest every available pound in improving services for the people of Scotland; notes that international relations and the UK's international aid programme are reserved to the UK Parliament; considers that the provision of overseas aid is primarily the responsibility of the UK Government, and calls on the Scottish Government to cease using devolved budgets for overseas aid and instead focus exclusively on delivering high-quality public services and value for taxpayers.
