Recognising Bob Garrity's Outstanding Contribution to Music in Moray

That the Parliament congratulates Bob Garrity, who is a much-loved conductor and multi-instrumentalist, on stepping down after 26 years of leading the Elgin City Band; understands that Bob was honoured with a special farewell performance and a  “last hurrah” concert at the Laichmoray Hotel on 3 July 2026, bringing together current and former performers, including many musicians whom he had taught during their school years; notes that Bob attended the Royal Military School of Music before serving in the Armed Forces for 40 years, during which he rose to become Bandmaster and later Director of Music; recognises his exceptional contribution to music education and community life in Moray through his decades of leadership, mentorship and musicianship; celebrates that, while retiring from conducting, Bob plans to continue making music with friends and writing original compositions, and wishes him all the very best for the future.
