Celebrating 900 Years of Kirkcaldy

That the Parliament celebrates the announcement of Kirkcaldy 900, a year-long event being organised for 2028 by Lang Toun Partners to mark the 900th anniversary of the first recorded mention of Kirkcaldy in historical records; acknowledges the disappointment that Kirkcaldy was not shortlisted for UK Town of Culture 2028, while applauding the efforts of Lang Toun Partners and all those involved in the bid as well as the high levels of engagement generated among residents, businesses and stakeholders; believes that Kirkcaldy's rich cultural, social and industrial heritage, including its history of innovation and contribution to economic development in Scotland and across the world, is deserving of recognition and celebration; commends the motivation and demonstration of strong civic pride of the organisers, participants and local residents hoping to showcase the best of Kirkcaldy, and looks forward to seeing the plans for the celebrations.
