That the Parliament congratulates Marlyn Firth on her retirement after 36 years of dedicated service to education within Orkney; understands that Marlyn started teaching in 1990, working in Stronsay, Hoy, Westray and Sanday as an itinerant teacher; notes that in 1992, Marlyn began teaching religious studies at Stromness Academy, then moved into guidance teaching and served as the school's guidance manager from 2006 to 2017; further notes that since 2017, she has worked at Kirkwall Grammar School as its principal guidance teacher; recognises that over the past few years, she has also done exceptional work as a staff tutor for the Aspiring Principal Teachers of Guidance course with Education Scotland, which is a year-long professional learning programme for future guidance teachers; considers that over the course of her 36-year teaching career, Marlyn has provided invaluable support to countless pupils across Orkney, helping them to achieve their academic and personal goals; thanks her for what it sees as the incredible impact she has had on pupils and staff within Orkney's schools, and wishes her all the very best for her well-earned retirement.
