That the Parliament notes with concern the proposed reduction to the operational capacity at Helensburgh Fire Station being considered at the Scottish Fire and Rescue Board meeting on 22 June 2026; recognises what it sees a the vital role that retained and full-time firefighters play in protecting communities; notes that Helensburgh Fire Station provides an immediate and strategic emergency response capability for communities across Helensburgh, Lomond, the Rosneath Peninsula, Garelochhead and significant sections of the A814 and A82 transport corridors including supporting Capita Fire and Rescue with the Naval bases at Faslane and Coulport; further notes the unique risks associated with rural and coastal response times, road traffic incidents, flooding, and wildfire threats; believes that any reduction in the fire and rescue provision could place public safety, firefighter welfare, and emergency resilience at risk; acknowledges the dedication and professionalism of Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) personnel; urges the Scottish Government and the SFRS to reconsider any proposed reductions affecting Helensburgh Fire Station, in light of reports regarding the significant level of community opposition expressed during the SFRS public consultation process and at public meetings held in Helensburgh.
