That the Parliament celebrates Volunteers’ Week 2026, which runs from 1- 7 June, and recognises the enormous and crucial contribution made by volunteers across Scotland; recognises that Volunteers’ Week 2026 lands during International Volunteer Year as declared by the UN, which calls on governments, organisations and communities worldwide to champion volunteering in all its forms; pays tribute to the dedication, compassion, and hard work of volunteers throughout Edinburgh and Lothians East, including those involved in youth work, sports clubs, community councils, development trusts, environmental projects, food provision, and heritage organisations; recognises what it sees as the important work carried out by Volunteer Edinburgh, Volunteer Centre East Lothian, and Midlothian Community Action in enabling volunteering and community action across this region and encourages members to mark this week by considering how they can support volunteers and voluntary organisations in their constituency or region.
