That the Parliament notes with disappointment the removal of responsibility for energy from the new ministerial title of Gillian Martin MSP, who is now Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Rural Affairs, at a time when energy policy, infrastructure and the future of North Sea oil and gas remains of critical importance to Scotland; considers that this decision will come as little surprise to residents in the Mearns, Oldmeldrum, New Deer and other communities across the North East who, it believes, have already seen insufficient action from the Scottish Government in response to concerns about large-scale electricity infrastructure projects affecting their homes, landscapes and livelihoods; believes that removing the responsibility for the energy portfolio from the title of a minister whose record on major energy projects has, in its view, caused significant frustration in affected communities, appears to be a political attempt to draw attention away from that record; further believes that this is a disregard for oil and gas workers and their families, many of whom reportedly already feel abandoned by both the Scottish and UK governments, and believes that changes in ministerial titles do not address the Scottish Government's record on energy, restore confidence among affected communities and energy workers or provide the leadership that Scotland’s energy sector urgently requires.
