That the Parliament welcomes the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which will take place on 19 or 20 March 2026 depending on the viewing of the moon; recognises that Eid al-Fitr commemorates the end of the 9th month of the Islamic calendar Ramadan, a month devoted to fasting from sunrise to sunset, prayer and giving zakat (charity); understands that personal development, building a spiritual connection with God and abstaining from sinful acts are key during this reflective month; recognises that Eid al-Fitr emphasises the virtue of being patient and devoted in life; understands that Eid al-Fitr is a celebration shared with friends and family, where people come together for prayer, enjoy special meals along with exchanging gifts; expresses its hope that Muslims across the globe are able to celebrate Eid al-Fitr peacefully, and wishes the Muslim community and all those celebrating across Scotland, Eid Mubarak.
