That the Parliament congratulates Louie Forsyth, a Year 2 HND Professional Cookery student at City of Glasgow College, on achieving second place in the Plate Trophy Final at the 2026 Young Chef Olympiad in India, while representing Scotland on the international stage; understands that the competition is widely regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious culinary events for young chefs, bringing together competitors from across the globe; recognises the significance of securing a silver medal following a series of demanding heats held in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata; notes the high level of technical skill, professionalism and composure demonstrated during the Plate Trophy Final, including the successful preparation of a refined chicken dish under intense time pressure and blind judging conditions; acknowledges the commitment required to balance international competition with academic study and professional kitchen work, including Mr Forsyth’s employment at The Clarence; further acknowledges the guidance and mentorship provided by lecturer Kenneth Hett and the funding support of the Savoy Educational Trust, and recognises that this achievement reflects positively on City of Glasgow College, Glasgow’s hospitality sector, and Scotland’s reputation for developing talented young chefs, while wishing Mr Forsyth every success in his future studies and culinary career.
