That the Parliament congratulates Milngavie Community Development Trust on completing the refurbishment of the Community Education Centre pond and its surrounds in Milngavie, marking the culmination of more than eight years of planning, fundraising and community effort; recognises that the project, first identified through a local survey as a way to “make the most of Milngavie”, has transformed the area into an attractive and welcoming space for residents and visitors; notes that the works included naturalising the concrete pond edge, creating a permanent nesting island designed by award-winning landscape company Watergems, and replanting the area around the benches with native species supplied by Milngavie in Bloom; further notes that new benches, including a carved wooden bench featuring the pond’s flora and fauna, and a replacement pump were funded through donations from local groups, trusts, businesses and individuals, with nearly £40,000 raised in total; commends the Trust, its volunteers and partners for enhancing Milngavie’s natural environment and for the positive feedback received from the public, and wishes the Trust all the best for its continued commitment to community-led regeneration in Milngavie.
