That the Parliament welcomes the award of a £50,000 grant to Weekday Wow Factor, which is a Glasgow-based social enterprise and charity that designs and delivers innovative community activities to improve the lives of older adults and people living with pre-diagnosed, early and mid-stage dementia; notes that the funding will support a programme of activities and support over three years for an estimated 120 people with dementia, and their unpaid carers, delivered by a team of around 20 volunteers; recognises the organisation’s work using leisure, social connection and wellbeing activities, such as daytime discos, minibus adventures, Tai Chi, Zoom sessions and other community events to reduce social isolation and enhance physical, mental and cognitive health; acknowledges the experience of Weekday Wow Factor’s founder as a qualified occupational therapist with a long career in NHS Scotland, and the organisation’s contribution to grassroots dementia support across Glasgow and beyond, and commends all those involved in Weekday Wow Factor for their ongoing commitment to tackling loneliness and enhancing quality of life for people living with dementia, and their carers.
