That the Parliament congratulates NHS Golden Jubilee on its initiative, Helping Little Hearts Understand Big Journeys, which launched on 19 December 2025; notes the creation of the bespoke children’s book, Big Moo’s New Heart, by staff from the Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital in partnership with the charity, Get Better Books; recognises the importance of providing clear, reassuring and age-appropriate information to young children whose parents, grandparents or loved ones are undergoing heart transplantation; understands that the heart transplant journey affects whole families and that supporting children’s emotional wellbeing can help reduce anxiety and fear during a highly challenging time; acknowledges the uniquely Scottish elements of the book, including references to the River Clyde and the Titan Crane, which reflect the hospital environment and help children relate to their surroundings; commends transplant coordinators, nurses and clinical staff, including Frances Gallacher, for their compassion, creativity and commitment to family-centred care; welcomes what it believes has been the positive impact of the book on patients and families, including the experience of NHS Golden Jubilee patient, John McCormick and his children; recognises the contribution of Get Better Books founders, Georgina Potier and Jake Abrams, in using design, illustration and storytelling to support children across hospitals throughout the UK, and thanks NHS Golden Jubilee, as Scotland’s only heart transplant centre, for its leadership in combining clinical excellence with innovation, empathy and understanding for some of the youngest family members affected by serious illness.
