That the Parliament congratulates three outstanding musicians from Orkney, Erika Shearer, Raymie Peace, and Andy Cant, on being awarded British Empire Medals (BEM); notes that these three individuals are joined by four more from Orkney that have received recognition in The King's New Year Honours List for 2026; understands that Erika Shearer, director of music at the Orkney Traditional Music Project, is being recognised for her contribution and services to traditional fiddle and accordion tuition in Orkney; notes that Raymie Peace, who serves as the Kirkwall City Pipe Band's pipe-major, is receiving his BEM for services to music, culture and the community in the county; further understands that Andy Cant, who is also a member of the Kirkwall City Pipe Band and a composer of pipe and fiddle music, is receiving his medal for services to music in Orkney; believes that these honours are richly deserved and a fitting tribute to the dedication, commitment and talent of Erika, Raymie and Andy who have enriched the Orkney community through their service to music; thanks them for the contributions they have made and continue to make, and wishes them all the very best for the future.
