That the Parliament recognises the success of the Orkney Christmas Tractor Run, which took place in Kirkwall on 29 December 2025, as well as the other tractor runs that took place over the festive period in Stromness, Burray and South Ronaldsay, Sanday, Eday and Graemsay, an island of just two dozen people, which held its first ever ‘run’; understands that, in total, these events helped raise over £25,000 for Parkinson's Orkney and cancer charity, MacMillan Orkney; believes that the many tractors and other agricultural vehicles from across the county, adorned with Christmas lights and decorations, captured the festive spirit as well as raising much needed funds to help support those affected by Parkinson's and cancer in Orkney; commends the efforts of the Orkney Agricultural Society and all the volunteers involved in enabling these fantastic, well-attended ‘runs’ to take place; praises the outstanding generosity shown by the public and local businesses in Orkney in helping raise another remarkable total for important local charities; believes that the annual tractor run demonstrates the important role played by the agricultural sector in Orkney, as well as Orkney's strong sense of community spirit; thanks all those who facilitated, participated and supported another successful and uplifting series of events, and looks forward to even more participants in more communities across Orkney getting involved in 2026.
