Aly MacPhail Receives Tom Stillie Award from Scottish Athletics

That the Parliament congratulates Aly MacPhail, from Orkney, on receiving the Tom Stillie Award at the 2025 Scottish Athletics' 4J Annual Awards on 30 November; understands that this award is given to the person who has contributed the most to Scottish athletics during the previous year; notes that this award is named in honour of Tom Stillie, who served as the president of the Scottish Amateur Athletics Association and designed the tartan used in the Commonwealth Check for the 1970 Commonwealth Games; recognises that Aly has been a stalwart of Orkney athletics over many years from competing to volunteering, organising and providing leadership; acknowledges that during the International Island Games hosted by Orkney in July 2025, Aly was the lead athletics organiser and was instrumental in facilitating a spectacular week of competition at the Pickaquoy Centre track that will live long in the memory of athletes and spectators alike; commends Aly for her tireless commitment to promoting participation in athletics amongst those of all ages in Orkney; believes Aly has already secured a lasting legacy, and looks forward to seeing her continue to build on this well into the future.
