That the Parliament celebrates the life of Peter Fraser MBE who sadly passed away recently; pays tribute to his incredible 70 years of devotion, passion and commitment to The Kirkintilloch Band and the wider musical community; recognises his contribution as a player, manager, administrator, mentor and ultimately president of The Kirkintilloch Band; praises his leadership, stability and unwavering dedication which, it believes, helped guide the band through triumphs, challenges and generations of change; recognises that Peter played a vital national role as an honorary vice-president of the Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) and previously as a long-serving representative for the West of Scotland; expresses gratitude for his integrity and love for the brass-band movement, which earned him widespread respect across Scotland and beyond; applauds his lifelong commitment to supporting people with disabilities, which led to him to being awarded an MBE as well as the SBBA President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement; commends his belief in community music and its power to shape lives, which will remain one of his greatest legacies; offers its sincere condolences to Peter’s family, fellow band members and many friends, and sends every kind wish of comfort to all those whose lives Peter touched in the constituency of Strathkelvin and Bearsden and beyond.
