That the Parliament congratulates 19-year-old Balerno para athlete, Finlay Menzies, on winning a Bronze Medal in the Men’s T72 100m at the New Delhi World Para Athletics Championships 2025; understands that this was Finlay’s international debut representing the British Team and his win was completed in a lifetime best of 16.29 seconds; believes that this is a real step forward for highlighting the sport of frame running, which is an adaptive form of running where athletes use a three-wheel frame to propel themselves along, and a step forward for disability in sport, both of which Finlay is a passionate advocate of; notes that from being introduced to a running frame at a sports and activity club at the age of eight years old, Finlay was hooked on the freedom this offered him to run fast without falling over; further notes that Finlay’s training encompassed completing his first half marathon in 2023 at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival and then another half marathon in Manchester later on that same year, where he set a lifetime best time; recognises that these longer distance runs, together with regular park runs help him to maintain overall cardiovascular fitness and endurance making it easier to develop the skills and strength needed for short distance sprints; commends Finlay for the commitment and dedication shown by him to the sport he loves, and wishes him every success for the future.
