Celebrating 25 Years of the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights

  • Submitted by: Maggie Chapman, North East Scotland, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 03 November 2025
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-19508

That the Parliament congratulates the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) on 2025 being its 25th anniversary; understands that CRER was founded in 2000 as the Glasgow Anti-Racist Alliance, and has since grown into a national organisation at the forefront of Scotland’s anti-racist movement; believes that the need for sustained and effective anti-racist work remains as vital today as it was 25 years ago, particularly in light of increasing tensions and inequalities experienced by communities across Scotland; celebrates the outstanding leadership of Jatin Haria, CRER’s Executive Director, on the occasion of his retirement after 25 years of dedicated service; acknowledges that his passion, integrity and tireless advocacy have been instrumental in shaping CRER into the respected and influential organisation that it is today, and wishes both Jatin and CRER continued success in their ongoing work to advance racial equality and social justice in Scotland.
