That the Parliament commends rising star Scott Ellis Watson, of Bishopbriggs, for his big screen debut in what it believes is the hugely successful and highly acclaimed film, I Swear; notes that Scott plays John Davidson as a teenager, whose real-life experiences of navigating daily challenges with Tourette syndrome are powerfully captured in this production; understands that Scott, through working so closely with John, appreciates and recognises him as a kind, wonderful and inspirational fellow Scot, with incredible skill and tenacity in raising awareness of the impact of how conditions such as Tourette syndrome can impact young people both educationally and socially; congratulates Kirk Jones as the writer, director and producer of this biographical comedy-drama film, Piers Tempest and Georgia Bayliff as producers, and John Davidson MBE as executive producer; acknowledges the commitment, dedication and friendship of the team on set during the filming of I Swear, including Robert Aramayo, Andrea Bisset, Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson and Peter Mullan; highlights the success of Studiocanal in distributing and promoting the film, enabling it to top the box office as the number one film in Scotland and across the UK in its first week of release; applauds the encouragement of Scott’s family, including his proud parents, Julie and Jimmy, and siblings Stella and John; gratefully acknowledges the outstanding support of his agents, Maryam Hunwick, of Hunwick Associates, and Taylor Jefferson, at The Artists Partnership; hopes that the impact of this film will be felt well beyond Scotland's shores, illuminating kindness, understanding, encouragement and empowerment, and sends every best wish to Scott on the launch and highly anticipated progression of his acting career.
