That the Parliament notes that Fairtrade Fortnight 2025, which takes place from 22 September to 5 October; highlights the need for fairer treatment of tea growers and pickers, who too often earn below a living income; recognises what it sees as the crucial role of Fairtrade co-operatives in enabling producers to secure better prices, invest in their communities and build resilience to the climate crisis; further recognises that co-operatives put power in the hands of farmers and workers themselves, embedding democracy and fairness into global trade; celebrates the support given by Scotland’s co-operative movement to Fairtrade producers; calls on the Scottish Government to embed Fairtrade principles in procurement policy, international development work and education, and resolves to promote Fairtrade co-operatives as a model for ethical trade and sustainability.
