As an amendment to motion S6M-18795 in the name of Kate Forbes (Supporting Scottish Exports in Response to Global Uncertainty), leave out from “acknowledges” to end and insert "believes that free trade brings growth and lowers the cost of living; considers that President Donald Trump's tariffs have wreaked havoc on the global economy, put workers' jobs at risk and added even more pressure to household budgets; calls on the Scottish Government to work with the UK Government in meeting these challenges with an economic coalition of the willing made up of allies across the world, recognising that the Commonwealth alone has a combined GDP of over $13 trillion and some of the fastest growing economies in the world, and further calls for the UK Government to target growth by scrapping its damaging jobs tax and immediately prioritising a deeper and closer trading relationship with the EU through a new bespoke UK-EU customs agreement, which would generate billions of pounds for public services, remove trade barriers and cut red tape for businesses.”
