That the Parliament congratulates 24-year-old Livingston AC athlete, Sarah Calvert, on becoming the new Women’s British Champion at 1,500m; considers that this win is all the more remarkable given that Sarah did not run or exercise for a year following surgery at the age of 15 when she had metal rods inserted in her back to alleviate scoliosis; understands that with sheer determination, training and belief, by 2017 she was winning medals and in recent years has taken Senior Scottish titles at 800m and 1,500m at Grangemouth, and wishes her every success when she takes on her next target of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
