That the Parliament celebrates the achievements of the Longhope Lifeboat Museum, which has been recognised with the Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Award; considers this to be a richly-deserved achievement for the independent maritime museum, based out of the original Longhope lifeboat station, and which is home to the seaworthy vintage lifeboat Thomas McCunn in her original setting; notes that the museum also features a number of exhibits, which tell the story of the Longhope lifeboats from 1874, and the role that generations of crews have played in keeping island communities safe on the waters of Scapa Flow, the Pentland Firth and the North Sea; understands that the recognition of the Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Award was based on thousands of traveller reviews and ratings over a 12-month period, which placed the Longhope Lifeboat Museum in the top 10% of traveller destinations in the world; congratulates all the staff and volunteers at the museum on this well-deserved recognition of their efforts to preserve the cultural heritage of the Longhope lifeboats, and deliver the highest standard of visitor experience, and looks forward to many more years of the museums success.
