That the Parliament acknowledges what it sees as the resounding success of the Orkney Show Week 2025; understands that show week ran from 1 to 9 August 2025 and featured a series of agricultural and industrial shows; notes that show week kicked off with the Sanday Agricultural and Industrial Show on 1 August, which exhibited a display of exceptional quality livestock and an excellent industrial show, with Angela Lennie collecting the award for Sanday Champion of the Yard with a Limousin-cross heifer calf called Fatbottom Girl; further notes that the East Mainland Agricultural Show was held the following day, where St Andrews show park saw an excellent turnout in near perfect weather conditions, with Champion of the Yard awarded to the winner of the cattle section, a February-born Limousin-cross heifer calf from JS Baillie and Co of Sebay Farm; recognises the impressive efforts of the Shapinsay show organisers, who, it understands, had to contend with rather less ideal weather conditions with the arrival of Storm Floris, but nonetheless pulled off a great show both indoors and outdoors; commends the staging of the Hope Show, Orkney’s oldest agricultural show, on 6 August 2025, where a special presentation was given to Toots and Laura Cromarty, who were commended for their many years of dedication to the Hope Show as well as being made honorary life members of the South Ronaldsay and Burray Agriculture Society, and Alannah Norquay's Irish Sport Horse, Redwood Scooby Doo, who was awarded Champion of the Yard; notes the success of the Orkney West Mainland Flower, Produce and Industrial Show, where locals exhibited their horticultural, produce, baking and confectionary, knitting and handicraft skills on what marked the show’s 125th anniversary, and the Dounby Agricultural Show, where the Spences of Norton took home the champion cattle award with Dounby Venus, a yearling Charolais heifer; understands that show week culminated with the Orkney County Show, held in Bignold Park, which attracted a fantastic array of local vendors, and saw Keith and Mhairi Eunson’s Red Angus bull, Mosshall Red Dancer, make history as the first of his breed to win the Supreme Beef Championship; congratulates all those involved in organising, exhibiting and volunteering on an exceptional show week, and looks forward to an equally successful and diverse Orkney Show Week in 2026.
