That the Parliament congratulates Jimmy Wilson of Barnyards, Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, on receiving the Sir William Young Award at the 2025 Royal Highland Show; recognises that this accolade, presented by the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS), honours individuals who have made outstanding contributions to livestock breeding and the wider agricultural industry; acknowledges Jimmy’s lifelong dedication to pedigree livestock, including his renowned Bridgestone flock of Suffolk sheep, which won breed championships at seven summer shows in a single season; celebrates his achievements in cattle breeding, particularly with his Ugie Charolais herd, which earned top honours at the Perth Bull sales and included the champion bull Ugie Legend, which sold for 24,000 guineas; notes his leadership roles within the British Charolais Cattle Society, including serving as chairman and president, and his tenure as director at the Moredun Research Institute; commends his continued influence as a judge, mentor and consultant, especially in supporting his granddaughters’ Braemuir flock of pedigree Charollais sheep, and applauds his enduring legacy, passion, and commitment to Scottish agriculture, which continues to inspire future generations.
