  • Submitted by: Jamie Halcro Johnston, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 06 June 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17843

That the Parliament congratulates 17-year-old Marcus Skeet, known to many as “The Hull Boy”, on becoming the youngest person, and the first person under 18, to run the full length of the UK from Land’s End in Cornwall to John o' Groats in the Highlands; notes that Marcus began this remarkable journey in April and completed nearly 840 miles in just over two months, raising around £150,000 for the mental health charity, Mind; understands that Marcus was inspired to support the charity due to his own experience of mental health challenges, and recognises what it considers to be the incredible resilience required for his journey, battling harsh terrain and weather conditions; commends Marcus for his determination to complete the challenge; applauds what it sees as his inspiring example of youth resilience, commitment to charitable causes and promotion of mental health awareness, and wishes Marcus continued success in all his future endeavours.
