That the Parliament congratulates Springburn Academy pupil, Nathan Gardiner, from Possilpark, who is heading to his second international championships for backhold wrestling, which will take place in France on 15 February 2025; notes that the Bretton International Wrestling Championship is held in Pontivy, in Brittany; acknowledges that Nathan first picked up the sport in September 2022, after the Red Road Wrestling Club, which trains at Maryhill Community Centre, paid a visit to the Young People’s Futures youth club, calling on people to join; understands that backhold wrestling is a traditional form of wrestling, which originated in Scotland, and has been practised since the eighth century, and further understands that Nathan finished third in 2024, and that the Red Road Wrestling Club has high hopes of him finishing in the top three against some of Europe's top wrestlers.
