That the Parliament congratulates Chivas Brothers on the 200th anniversary of The Glenlivet single malt Scotch whisky; considers that The Glenlivet is one of Scotland’s most renowned single malts, and understands that it is one of the oldest licenced distilleries in Scotland, having operated continuously since 1824; welcomes what it sees as the growth in global popularity of The Glenlivet, with, it understands, sales in the USA alone at around £215 million annually; further welcomes the recent £20 million investment in the distillery by Chivas Brothers and its award-winning visitor centre; commends Chivas Brothers for what it sees as its industry-leading work to make Glenlivet and the distillation of all of its whiskies carbon neutral by the end of 2026, and notes that Chivas Brothers has also invested £50 million in its state-of the-art bottling plant at Kilmalid, Dumbarton, to support the reportedly growing demand for some of Scotland’s most recognisable whisky brands to more than 160 global markets.
