That the Parliament congratulates Michael Drever, originally of Kirkwall, who was named Para Trap Athlete of the Year on 11 November 2023; commends Michael for his excellent performances throughout the year, which were the basis of the judges’ decision to award him the honour; recognises that Michael represented Orkney at the International Island Games in Guernsey in 2023, competing in the Olympic Trap and Automatic Ball Trap categories; applauds Michael’s performance at the 2023 World Shooting Para Sport World Championships in Lima, in September, where he placed fourth in Para Trap; notes that these successes come on the back of many years of progress, including Michael becoming the first winner of the British Shooting Shotgun Series Para Trap trophy in 2021; believes that Michael’s consistent performance reflects hard work and dedication to the sport, and wishes Michael further shooting success in the future, including at the International Island Games due to be held in his native Orkney in 2025.
