  • Submitted by: Annie Wells, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 26 September 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10619

That the Parliament recognises the achievements of the Scottish-born actor, David McCallum, from Maryhill in Glasgow, who sadly passed away on 25 September 2023; understands that the actor, best known for starring in NCIS, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Great Escape, passed away at the age of 90; notes that, after leaving school, he was conscripted for National Service and served in west Africa, where he was eventually promoted to the rank of lieutenant; further notes that, after leaving the army, he attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London; recognises that the Scottish actor, who played a secret agent in the 1960s spy drama, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. had recently gained popularity for his role as a pathologist on the CBS show, NCIS, and believes that David was a gifted actor and author, and that his legacy will live on through his family and the countless hours on film and television.
