That the Parliament congratulates BBC Studios and Screen Scotland for launching a brand new Training Academy for River City, based at the television studios at Lomondgate in Dumbarton; recognises that the scheme is the first of its kind for Scotland and will offer training and development opportunities for both external and internal talent in a range of roles, including storylining, sound, camera, costume and makeup design; notes that the initiative is part of BBC Studios’ commitment to find, develop and retain the best talent; acknowledges that participants will be given access to classes and workshops and, beyond initial training, on-set opportunities will be available to candidates; notes that applications to register interest in the next cohort beginning in January 2024 are now open; wishes the Training Academy every success, and hopes that the initiative will be fruitful in developing Scottish creative talent both on and off-screen.
