That the Parliament congratulates NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Catering Manager, Jim Dougan, and Inverclyde Royal Hospital Cook Freeze Production Unit Team Manager, Alan Dougan, on their success at the Hospital Caterers Association’s (HCA) NHS 4 Nations Chef Challenge; understands that as well as winning the Best in Class accolade at the London event on 20 March 2023, Jim and Alan, who are cousins, took home Gold Salon Culinaire medals after impressing judges with their herb-crusted fillet of Scottish salmon, served with crushed baby potatoes, baby leeks, asparagus and finished with a lemon and cream sauce; notes that this main course will now be served to around 400 delegates at the HCA National Forum in Birmingham later in May 2023, and that it is planned that staff will have a chance to taste the award-winning meal on St Andrew’s Day in staff dining rooms; applauds Jim, Alan and their team for their efforts and helping to raise the profile of hospital catering; wishes the pair all the best as they continue to serve up delicious dishes for patients, and hopes that their achievements will encourage young chefs to follow a career in the NHS.
