  • Submitted by: Annie Wells, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 20 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07571

That the Parliament congratulates the City of Glasgow Wind Orchestra on its up-coming concert at the Govan and Linthouse Parish Church to raise funds for the Govan Men's Shed; understands that the evening will feature music from film, TV and classics; notes that the City of Glasgow Wind Orchestra is a community wind band, based in Glasgow, and founded in 1982 as the YMCA Glasgow Wind Orchestra; understands that membership includes a wide range of ages and musical backgrounds; notes that the monies raised will be given to the Men’s Shed Govan; further understands that the men’s shed offers somewhere for men who are retired, unemployed or unable to work, through ill-health, to go for a blether, play darts, learn woodwork skills, participate in gardening, learn how to cook, take on a project, or hobby, help the community or just hang out and talk about new ideas for what to do at the Shed, and acknowledges that the City of Glasgow Wind Orchestra gives concerts in and around the Glasgow and rehearses every Friday night in Springfield Cambridge Parish Church in Bishopbriggs.
