Auchenharvie Pupils Win Judges Award

That the Parliament congratulates S6 pupils from Auchenharvie Academy, Stevenston, on winning the Judges Award at the UK F1 in Schools final, which was held in Birmingham in 2023; understands that the UK F1 in Schools is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) competition with the aim of introducing younger people to engineering in a more fun environment; notes that the competition is held annually, with regional and national finals; further notes that it is a multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of students aged nine to 19 deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature compressed air powered cars made from F1 model block; understands that the overall winners of the national finals are invited to compete at the world finals, which are held at a different location each year, usually held in conjunction with a Formula One Grand Prix; further understands that there are several aspects of the competition, which include specifications judging, engineering judging, portfolio and pit display judging, verbal presentation judging and racing; commends the S6 pupils for winning the Judges Award, and wishes them every success in the future.
