Inverclyde Ramblers’ 20th Anniversary

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 22 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05957

That the Parliament congratulates Inverclyde Ramblers on its 20th anniversary; welcomes the reported comments made by secretary, Thomas Jones that Inverclyde’s beautiful scenery and plenty of access to local walks, such as the coastal path out beyond Newark Castle in Port Glasgow towards Langbank, or from Lunderston Bay in Gourock through Inverkip to Leapmoor Forrest or to Wemyss Bay, has helped the group flourish over the years; believes that after the COVID-19 pandemic, more people wanted to explore the outdoors as spending time outside can be good for physical and mental health; understands that groups like Inverclyde Ramblers also focus on the social aspect of walking together and meeting new people, which helps tackle social isolation in the community, and wishes the group all the best as it continues to raise awareness of the health benefits of regular walking.
