That the Parliament pays tribute to Kirkwall RNLI on its 50th anniversary; understands that the Kirkwall Lifeboat Station was established on 30 May 1972 and was first home to the Grace Paterson Ritchie lifeboat; recognises that the Grace Paterson Ritchie, while on trials in Orkney, maintained coverage of the Pentland Firth following the Longhope Lifeboat Disaster on 17 March 1969, when the lifeboat T.G.B and its eight crew were tragically lost; notes that RNLI Kirkwall welcomed the Arun class lifeboat Mickie Salvensen in 1988 and has been served by the Severn class lifeboat Margaret Foster since 1998 with a new modernised Severn vessel due in two years; welcomes the series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary, including an open day at the lifeboat station on 11 June 2022, and the window displays across Kirkwall; commends the bravery and dedication of RNLI Kirkwall's volunteer crew over the past 50 years, and wishes the vital station all the very best for the future.
