Decisions on Taking Business in Private

The Convener (Gil Paterson):

I apologise to the clerking team for being a wee bit late in getting started—we had previous business. Thank you for bearing with us.

We have received apologies from Marilyn Livingstone. I welcome the other members of the committee to the fifth meeting in 2009 of the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee.

Item 1 is a decision on whether to take in private items 3 and 4. Item 3 relates to a report from the Scottish Parliamentary Standards Commissioner, which contains confidential information. It is normal practice for the committee to take such items in private. Item 4 is a discussion on our work programme and our approach to correspondence that we have received. Do members agree to take those items in private?

Members indicated agreement.

The Convener:

Item 2 is another decision on whether to take business in private. Does the committee agree to consider in private at our next meeting its review of section 2 of the code of conduct for members of the Scottish Parliament, on categories of registrable interests?

Members indicated agreement.

Thank you. That concludes business in public—that was swift. I thank members of the public and parliamentary staff.

Meeting continued in private until 15:59.
