Children's Commissioners (Seminar)

The Convener (Karen Gillon):

I remind members to ensure that all mobile telephones and pagers are switched off.

Members have the clerk's note on an invitation that I have received to attend a joint seminar on children's commissioners with the UK Parliament's all-party parliamentary group on children. The Welsh children's commissioner is to be there, as is the Norwegian children's commissioner. Members from the Northern Ireland Assembly have also been invited. We require the committee's approval for me to take up the invitation.

It is highly appropriate that someone from the Scottish Parliament should go to talk about our commissioner.

Definitely.

The Convener:

Thank you. I will make the appropriate recommendations to the Conveners Group.

Item 2 on the agenda is consideration of our stage 1 report on the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Bill. At its previous meeting, the committee agreed that the item would be taken in private, so we now move into private session.

Meeting continued in private until 15:12.
