Scottish Parliament Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee Wednesday 14 November 2001 (Morning)

[The Convener opened the meeting at 10:01]

The Convener (Alex Neil):

Good morning and welcome to the Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee's 26th meeting in 2001. I have received apologies from Marilyn Livingstone, who unfortunately cannot join us this morning. Duncan Hamilton, who is currently detained, will join us later.

Agenda item 1 is reports on our lifelong learning inquiry case studies. The written reports are not ready, because the case studies were fairly extensive. Does the committee agree to defer consideration of the reports until 28 November?

Members indicated agreement.

The Convener:

The implication of that decision is that we will have an extremely busy agenda at our next meeting, which will be held on 28 November in Glasgow, at Scottish Enterprise's new headquarters in the Broomielaw. Does the committee agree that the agenda item on the global connections strategy, which was planned for that meeting, be deferred until a date in January or February, to be agreed by the committee? We all agree that our priority must be the lifelong learning inquiry. Is that agreed?

Members indicated agreement.
