Good morning and welcome to the 26th meeting in 2006 of the Justice 1 Committee. Today's meeting will be an all-day one. This morning's part of the meeting will finish at about 12.30 and we will reconvene at 2 o'clock. All members of the committee are present. I welcome Ken Macintosh, who is joining us today. As usual, I ask members and people in the public gallery to switch off anything that may interfere with the broadcasting equipment.

Agenda item 1 is to consider whether to take in private agenda item 4, which is consideration of whether to accept written evidence that has been received after the deadline for the receipt of submissions. Do members agree to take that item in private?
