Subordinate Legislation

Aberdeen City (Electoral Arrangements) Variation Order 2013 (SSI 2013/115)

The Convener

The second agenda item is consideration of a negative Scottish statutory instrument. We have a paper from the clerk setting out the purpose of the order. The Subordinate Legislation Committee determined that it did not need to draw the order to the Parliament’s attention. Do members have any comments on it?

Mark McDonald (North East Scotland) (SNP)

My only comment is to remark, as a former member of Aberdeen City Council—like you, convener—that the issue seems to have been around for an awfully long time. In fact, it has probably been around since the boundary changes took place in the move to multimember wards. It is pleasing that progress is being made, slow though it has been.

Thank you—I will not go into the history of the issue.

Are we agreed not to make any recommendations on the SSI?

Members indicated agreement.

I am grateful for that.
