Decision on Taking Business in Private
I welcome you all to the ninth meeting in 2009 of the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee. Thank you for coming.
It is fair to put on the public record that we have just had, as a courtesy, a nice meeting with the new Scottish Parliamentary Standards Commissioner. Our intention is to meet Mr Allan occasionally, if and when required, so that we can keep abreast of developments. We hope that he will have success in, and enjoy, his new post.
Item 1 is a decision on whether to take in private items 2 and 3. Item 2 will be discussion of our approach, and of draft guidance, in relation to our review of section 2 of the "Code of Conduct for Members of the Scottish Parliament". Item 3 will be on the committee's approach to the Interpretation and Legislative Reform (Scotland) Bill. This will be the first time that we have considered the matter and our discussion might not reflect the committee's final view.
Are members content to take both items in private?
Members indicated agreement.
Thank you.
Meeting continued in private until 15:28.
